How to avoid transaction tax when paying insurance premiums

As of April 2025, all payments made by transfer from the bank account of companies are subject to a transaction tax of 0.4%.

To pay your insurance premiums, you can use the following payment methods to avoid paying this type of tax

Payment by CREDIT or DEBIT CARD issued to the company bank account

For a credit / debit card issued to your corporate account you will pay a transaction tax of EUR 2 for the whole year. You can pay the premium through the payment gateway available on web site of insurance companies - you just need to enter the data from the invoice - the variable symbol and the amount.

This option is offered by the following insurers

Payment by POSTAL MONEY ORDER to bank account - by using a credit / debit card issued to the company bank account

For payments to insurance companies that do not offer payment gateway, it is possible to use payment by postal money order, which is exempt from transaction tax.

It is necessary to enter the data from the invoice / premium statement into a green postal order and pay it at the post office with the payment card issued to the COMPANY's bank account.

A cash payment does not make sense as cash withdrawals from a company bank account are subject to a higher tax rate of 0.8% - than a transfer directly from a bank account.
